I'm a first time mom. My son was born 12/11 vaginally. I have a second degree tear and got stitches. When should I expect them to dissolve? Does it hurt for a long time? Why does it burn when I pee still or when I sit down? Can I tear my stitches by moving around a lot?

I also suggest once your stitches disolve take Epsom salt baths it'll help too and rub your stitch site to loosen up the scar tissue.

Congratulations! The stitches usually take a couple of weeks to dissolve. I bet you're past the point of tearing them, but it's definitely a good idea to take it easy! It's normal to be uncomfortable for 6-8 weeks.  I was uncomfortable for closer to 10 (full episiotomy plus I got the flu and tore stitches coughing). After the first couple of weeks, I'm sure you'll find that you feel better by the day! If anything feels off, make sure to call your OB. Above all, remember to take care of yourself. I know it's hard to do right now, but staying hydrated and eating well should help you heal! Good luck!
