Getting a good latch/nipple cream

Looking for some advice on how you get your latch. I've been having a little trouble with getting him on there and it's left my nipples sore 😖😖. He's only three days old and I feel like we are getting the hang of it just looking for some advice on how anyone else does it what position you put the baby in also looking for a good nipple cream just to keep on the safe side
