How long to wait until telling?

I'm 39 and this is my third pregnancy, EDD 8/31/16. I'm thinking I want to wait until 12 wks to tell my kids because I don't want to break their hearts if anything happened.  Am I wrong to feel this way?  What are your thoughts?

I'm doing the exact opposite. Last time we waited until 10 weeks to tell our teenagers and they were super mad we didn't tell them earlier. My youngest is 14 months and we found out on the 22nd that I'm pregnant again. So we'll be telling them as soon as bloodwork and ultrasound confirms there's a baby in there. :)

I am doing the same,in Jan I had a bad mc and had to have an emergency d&c so I don't want to put them through that again.

We chose same thing. I'm 7 weeks today. My oldest thinks I am cause of my severe morning sickness but were waiting as long as possible to tell them or the rest of our family. Hoping to make it to 12 weeks bit I'm already showing so....

I am with you.  Having experienced 11 miscarriages, with my children knowing about several of them, I have seen how difficult it can be for some kids to process miscarriage.  I did choose to tell my oldest (almost 10) recently but I debated long and hard over that.  She is very mature though so I felt like this time we'd be okay.  But I won't tell the others for a while.  I supppose my situation complicates things more since it isn't just one loss they have to understand, but many.  However, the journey has definitely shaped my thoughts on this topic.
