Whats an iui??

Question

And what are the chances of getting pregnant??? Is there something to try before iui? My husband and I have just been trying on our own for a year now.. Just trying to weigh our options

IUI aka intrauterine insemination is when they place the sperms into a woman's uterus when she is ovulating. It is much cheaper than IVF. From my experience before having an IUI, I was put on meds to help mature the eggs. Once they've matured, I received a trigger shot to make me ovulate. They scheduled me for my IUI a day or 2 after. That morning, I brought in my SO's supply (can be done at home or in office), they "wash" out the sperm. Meaning they are able to separate all the good ones from the bad. Usually takes about an hour. After that, IUI procedure is ready. They insert the sperms as close as they can bypassing all that loop the sperm normally takes. It didn't hurt me all at. 2wks later, you'll take a pregnancy test. It wasn't successful until after 2 tries, unfortunately that ended in a mc at 8wks. But I've been blessed and got pregnant quickly after naturally and currently 9wks. Good luck to you!
