Epidural???

What are pros and cons of getting a epidural I'm due with my first any day my mom told me not to take it ...

I've had 2 with zero complications. No back pain, headaches,  issues pushing, prolonged labor, or lethargic baby or mom.  It is up to you. Talk to your doctor about concerns and the hospitals percentage of complications. I am lucky to live in a city with an INCREDIBLE  medical community and highly ranked hospitals. That may have contributed to my positive experiences. Get your info then follow your instincts. No matter what, sign the papers anyway. You don't want to decide at 7cm that you want one then have to wait for them to bring you a clipboard.

I didn't have one with my first and was in labor for 12 hours. Had one with my second and was in labor for 4 hrs. I didn't have any issues with it nor has it ever caused me issues after. I will personally be getting one with this baby as well.

Totally get it!!! I have been in active labor since 1pm and it's currently 3:40 am. I have been able to rest on and off and laugh and joke with my family and not be miserable. Don't let anyone bully you into something you don't want to do!

I was an 8-9 when they did my epidural.. my labor progressed extremely fast. My son was 8.15lbs & got stuck after his head came out unfortunately breaking his collar bone.. the epidural definitely helped my body relax because the contractions were super intense. Even though when they where trying to get him out the epidural didn't really help.

I have had both. An epidural with my first, and med-free with my second. I'm due in a couple weeks with my third and I think I'm going to choose Med-free again. I definitely don't discourage anyone from getting an epidural because they are amazing. However I just loved the fact that I could get up right after having the child and shower and walk around. For me the pros outweighed the cons of going med free

I never took the epidural and im having my third child. The reason why i didn't take it is because my sister in law took it with her son and she told me that she has back pains because of it, my nephew is 12 years old and she still gets back pains,  she can't lift anything a little heavy for 5 min. She scared me so i never took it.

I had the epidural. The only down side is you can't walk while in labor and the day after your back hurts. I felt pressure which told me to push with my daughter. Then it takes about an hour to wear off but by the time you do skin to skin with your bundle of joy for an hour it's time for you to take your shower and all.I'm pregnant again and most likely get it agian if I can't handle the pain.
