#realtalk Do you feel this way too?

Being pregnant in America isn't like the stereotypical images like being able to get to the front of the line or being able to eat whatever your heart desires... it's more like being a pregnant wildebeast left behind in the dust of the herd- trying to fend off the hyenas.

I mean it's totally worth it- pregnancy isn't the issue at all- I'm so beyond blessed with this gift- it's just what image society portrays about pregnancy & caring for a newborn is far from the reality I've seen. Nothing slows down- like- society doesn’t really care if you're having issues walking etc the workload is the same- nothing off your back. & you can't take days off to rest even when the doc tells you to because of $$$ & the absolute joke we have in this country that we call maternity leave. "Hey we won't fire you but we sure as hell won't pay you either" is how much society cares- it's fake & it's pregnant moms-to-be & newborns that suffer both in & outside of the workplace.

Growing up I always saw these images of well cared for & nurtured babies & mommy's- like this was a time that was sacred & protected- but it's not. 30 weeks down in this pregnancy- just 2 more months before I can meet my spunky little daughter- but that's just the start for us. I'm hoping society will be gentler to her than it is right now for so many mamas out there.
