Is it safe to sleep on your back? 37 weeks pregnant

Thy say no and I learned why. I was getting our sono at 35 weeks and was laying flat so they could do it and about 20 min into it I told them I was getting very hot and felt like I could pass out any minute and wanted to throw up. They told me to lay on my left side quick until I got it together. They said it happened because the uterus is pushing on the main artery to the heart and is cutting off blood flow. Wasn't fun!

I think only if it's comfortable for you. For me personally, I can't breathe at all in that position anymore. Even laying in that position for 5 minutes at my appointments when I'm being measured is extremely uncomfortable

My OB which I trust very much said sleep however your comfortable if you can't breath probably not the position you should stay in.

You are not supposed to lay flat on your back, but if you are propped up a little it's fine. I usually keep a pillow under me on one side.

We will never know ☺️ I asked the same question and I too am at 37weeks wake belly up. Then when I turn on my side she moves along with me..  She seems fine and I get that little bit of extra rest. Since my shoulders get num with my weight if I'm on my side for to long while I sleep. Not cool. So let's think positive and all will be ok! We have a few more days to enjoy this belly! 😊

My midwife said it's not a huge deal unless I feel like I can't breathe. She said even if I roll over in my sleep onto my back it would wake me up to cause me to move if there were any issues.

I sleep on my back. I am fine still.

Just do what you can. I try to just roll over if I wake up and I'm on my back. It happens.
