Leggings as Pants

I personally do wear leggings as pants often. I'm a college student and they're so incredibly comfortable. But I also understand that I have wide hips and I don't want to show my underwear to the world, so I typically wear either black underwear or sliding shorts under my leggings to prevent showing too much. What are your opinions on people wearing leggings as pants?
