Is this as un-safe place for my newborn to sleep?
Hey, so I know the basics on newborn crib safety & all that.. no bumpers, blankies, or toys, etc. And I'm aware most ppl have their baby in a crib or bassinet or some other "flat" surfaced type of thing like that. With my son we had him in a pack n play the first week that was right next to our bed, he seemed to wake up all hours of the night (which I know is normal) but I also imagined how uncomfortable it musta been for him to go from a tight place, curled up in a ball, & always feeling movements.. to a big open still, quiet, flat surface. So at night I'd get up & rock him to sleep but the moment I'd stop rocking him & put him back flat in the pack n play he would start to wake again & cry.. so I tried putting him in his little battery powered swing chair type thing that is basically shaped like a car seat but it swings back & forth.. and I think the movement just helped him sleep & stay asleep longer. It worked so well we ended up just using that as a "moving bassinet" next to our bed every night for the first month then he moved to his crib in his own room. So this time around we didn't even bother to buy any bassinet, we just got another type of swing chair & that's been my plan to use for the babies sleeping. It comes with straps of coarse, I plan to strap baby in safely.. I'm hoping I am able to do this even tho she is swaddled, which may take some figuring out. But even if baby is swaddled & set in the swing chair without straps I THINK it seems safe just because it's more like a a big deep bowl than a chair..that's why I like it, cause it's not a flat surface but a deep bowl type shape so baby couldn't roll around even if she tried (like bein in a hammock kinda) & I feel that would be more comforting to a new born. The swinging is very slight & slow, and it doesn't swing high enough to put the bowl in a "tipping" position where the baby could slide out. It stays like a horizontal deep bowl that just slightly glides around. Anyways, because it's not the typical open flat crib style I'm wondering if u guys think it's an unsafe approach. And plz don't tell me I'm a horrible mother for asking this.. I'm asking first because if it's unsafe in any way I won't wanna do it. So this is just me making sure ahead of time that I don't do anything unsafe to my baby. Thank u
