What do contractions feel like?

Do they feel like Braxton Hicks', only stronger? Or do they feel like period cramps? FTM here and I'm very crampy!

So one thing that helped me when I was pregnant with my first was someone described labor contractions as kinda having a "wave effect"...meaning they'd start out less severe and kinda gradually increase in severity and go back down with each contraction. It seemed to ring true for me (though I did end up going to hospital a day early and getting sent home haha). Hope that may be helpful...I know it can be worrisome/confusing the first time around (and, truth be told, I'm on round two and still don't know what the heck I'm doing!), but best wishes to all y'all for a healthy and stress-free delivery!!

It can vary from person to person and even from pregnancy to pregnancy. For me personally it felt like period cramps. It was a very obvious difference from Braxton hicks. With my BH it was always just a tightening of my stomach without any pain. The contractions had that ache that went along with them.

Period cramps times a million I was keeled over. They woke me up my sleep. Then I had about 4 more (crying already) and my wife drove me to the hospital
