Can you fall out of love?

Question

Can you have those undoubted intense feelings of "LOVE", and KNOW you are IN LOVE, but then later have it fade away because life happens, shit happens, or your SO is just not the same person you thought they were?

Or, if you TRULY love someone, you can never fall out of it, rather you just feel less happy at times but can always snap back and into knowing that "love" again?

I always love my husband. We've been together for 10 years. Shit gets hard sometimes. I won't lie and say that sometimes, although I love him always, that at that point in time I don't feel IN love w him, or even like him that much. Then we deal w our issues, make up, and I feel happy and in love w him. The good outweighs the bad of course, but SOMETIMES I go through that feeling. Its life, its marriage, and its normal. Just not everyone will admit it :)

Well there are different forms of love and different layers of love. That being said love does change as the relationship changes it grows deeper in my experience. But a lot of people who are used to the butterflies all the time pink love feeling as it is referred to does change and isn't new anymore. But my experience which is what I can talk about I have only had two serious relationships the first ended because of cheating. The second one is with my husband. Based on that what we know as love at the time can change. With my first relationship isn't love for me anymore it is what I have with my husband.

My first "serious" relationship ended this way. We were together for five years and young. We had our trials. He had been unfaithful on multiple occasions and very controlling. I forgave him every time because I felt so hopelessly addicted to him. I lived and breathed him. I woke up early one morning, looked over at him, and realized that I couldn't care less about what he was dreaming about. I remember feeling alive for the first time in a long time. I stayed up until he woke up for work,  planning my escape. I got up with him, packed his lunch, kissed him goodbye, watched him leave, then called my dad to come help me pack and move. I moved in with my dad for a year before I could swing things on my own and never looked back. I feel like it was a lifetime ago, but it's one of the best things I ever did. I'm married now. While our love is more pure and very different, I can't say what I felt for my first love wasn't "real". It just wasn't meant to be.
