How often do you bathe a baby?

My mother in law thinks I'm crazy for only giving my 6 month old baths 2 sometimes 3 days a week, but he has such sensitive skin that if I bathe him more his skin becomes dry and itchy..

My youngest is four weeks old. He has only had six baths since we left the hospital. I will continue bathing him only once or twice a week (unless it is necessary that he bathe more) until he is much older (six to eight months).

And even then, I probably won't bathe him more than three times a week.

Once he's older and starts playing outside he will, obviously, bathe nightly or every other night.

My girl gets a bath every night as a part of her bed time routine. She's placed in just plain water and I shampoo her hair because she's got wild curly thick hair on top and it gets greasy if it's not washed nightly & I soap up her bottom with soap and rinse since she likes to poop like a grown man every day lol. It varies for each child. No stress momma you're doing fine.

Babies shouldn't get baths everyday for the exact reason you mentioned. I use a wash cloth to wipe off the spit up zones daily, but 2-4 baths in a week.

I was told by my pediatrician to only bath my little girl every other day because their skin is extremely sensitive, although if she gets very messy or uses her diaper and its alot of poop (we all know the messy poopy diapers I'm talking about lol) I'll give her a bath on the no bath day

Depends on how dirty ur baby gets but I'd suggest 1-2 times a week cause their skin dries very easily when their little. Could just give them a washcloth wash in between or Ofcourse if they make a mess with food or diaper.

I did every other day with my son, unless he had a blow out or excessive spit up that day. He has super sensitive skin (allergic to a lot of dyes and perfumes) and he has eczema so bathing more than that caused his skin to crack and bleed. When my daughter was younger she was having constant blow outs and she has extremely sensitive skin so if I didn't get it off as fast as possible, she would develop a rash all over her bottom. I had to invest in one of those arrangements that hook to the bath faucet that was a shower head just to ensure she got clean asap. If I didn't have to do that then I probably would have bathed her every 2-3 days just to save her skin from drying out.
