My "Condition" Rant
Is anyone else tired of hearing what they can't do because of their 'condition' as a pregnant woman? I'm not talking about the big stuff, and I know they are honestly just looking out for the baby and I, but I have two examples that are really getting to me. Before getting into that, let me say that I genuinely appreciate that people are concerned. It's not that. But I feel inept because every time I make an effort to do anything, people ask me if I should doing that because I'm pregnant, even if it's totally safe.
First, we have a gate that we have to slide close and lock after work every day. The woman that was working with me has severe arthiritis in her hands, and is 60 something years old, and was offended that I tried to help her slide the gate shut. She called a man over to help her so that I wouldn't. Second, I was at my parent's house the other day, and they were cleaning, so I started picking up the living room. I went to slide the chairs forward and my dad sort of freaked out, and wouldn't let me slide them the two feet to vacuum behind them. I am trying not to be offended, because I know their intent is to protect my health, and that of my little one's. But I am pregnant, not broken. Rant over.
