Help needed Please

Jen
Hi ladies
I'm currently on vacation in Nashville Tennessee, visiting from the uk. I have developed the worst toothache 😢 I'll be 9 weeks on Monday. combined with nausea and vomiting its making for a pretty miserable time. The healthcare here is so different I just need a little help.
1. What painkillers are safe in pregnancy
2. If I find an emergency dentist what sort of prices are treatment. I have travel insurance but I guess I will have to pay then claim it back
Thanks in advance for any help.

Tylenol is safe. Depending on what is making your tooth hurt, dental work can be very expensive. I'd see if just some Orajel could numb the pain enough until you get back home. Orajel is safe because it's even made for babies to use while teething. It's just a gel that you run on your gum to numb it. Then you can take Tylenol for addition pain relief.

Orajel is still class C. But worth a discussion about for sure.

A lot of us here don't have dental coverage either. They should be able to give you an estimate on cost and necessity of having a procedure now. Orajel is pregnancy class C but the benefit may outweigh the risk in your case. I would talk to a dentist or pharmacist, it is available over the counter. Otherwise tylenol/acetaminophen is safe.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is your only option for pain relief.I'm not sure about how much emergency dental work costs. I think your average root canal probably costs about $1200 - $1500.

Glad to hear it!

I'm going in to get a root canal, and they're saving the tooth. With no crown and just the filling, I'm paying $400 because my insurance doesn't cover it.

I would strongly recommend getting it looked at. Within the next couple of weeks
