Allergic to condoms?

How do You know if your allergic to latex condoms? Is there non latex condoms?

I am allergic to latex, latex makes me itch and when I use latex condoms..... Oh boy is my kryptokitty pissed off. It itches so bad and have to go to the er. They have non latex condoms.

It's easier to figure out if you're allergic to latex.  You can have your blood drawn if you're concerned.  Do you have a reaction to latex gloves or bandaids with latex?

They do make non latex condoms, but most are made out of sheep skin.  They protect against pregnancy but not STDs. 😖

There are many brands of non-latex condoms (in UK) skins and durex are indistinguishable from latex condoms and contain lube/spermicides. There is a brand (passante I think) which do not (they're a little like cling film and vassaline :s ) both types protect from STIs. I would suggest switching to latex free and seeing if that helps. Docs can do a test to see if it's an allergy but you may just be sensitive.

Sometimes you can also be allergic to the lube in prelubricated condoms.

You'll have some sort of allergic reason to them (hives/rash or swelling in the affected area is most common). Take a benedryl and then switch to non-latex versions. Where I live I was only able to find one brand which have my husband a rash so we had to nix condoms altogether.
