Just a question on my mind?

Does anyone else think it would be kinda silly if you had to go to court and swear on the bible? Like I don't believe in God so can I lie?

I don't know how it works in the US, but in the UK there are options for the oath you take before giving evidence in court - the options include a selection of holy books for those who are religious and also an 'affirmation' which has no mention of God for those who are not believers. 
As an athiest I always choose the affirmation because to swear on a holy book or make a promise in the name of a God I don't believe in would in itself be a lie and I'm not comfortable with that.

Given the amount of mistrust their is for atheists in the USA, letting the court know you don't believe is probably not going to be good for you if you want them to believe your testimony

When I was younger in court a lady swore on the bible then lied her ass off. One of many instances I relized its all a bunch of bull. We can refuse to sware on the bible but it probably won't make you look good to the judge.
