Is Maroochydore a famous vacation destination?

This is helping me settle a dispute between my SO and I xD.

My partner is Australian, so Maroochydore is no big deal for him. Just a few hours away

So growing up in America, Maroochydore has always been one of those places where people dream of going. Similar to when someone says "I went to the Bahamas" or "the Caribbean". "I went to Maroochydore on my summer vaca". Has been a dreamy, oooo, aaaahh, wow you actually went there? Type of vacation place.

Am I wrong about this?
Maroochydore is a dream vaca location correct? Yes or no?

I'm in the U.S. and I have never heard of it...but if someone told me they went to Australia for vacation I would be impressed. Lol It's on our list of future vacation destinations.

I wouldn't call it a dream vacation spot because I've never even heard of it before. Australia sounds like a good vaca, but I've never heard anyone say "ugh I would love to go to Maroochydore one day"

I live right near there though and it's gorgeous. Very laid back and not at all like tourist spots in the Caribbean though. Lovely all the same. 😊

Sort of. It's a nice spot on the Sunshine Coast, but I would only consider it to be a tourist destination because it's pretty cheap to stay there.
