Follicles and ovulation

Just had a doc app today, it was a check up to see if my second round if clomid worked (100ml). It's been 2 weeks since I took the last clomid pill. In the sonogram he said I have a 24cc follicle in one of my ovaries. He said to bd every other day to see if my body will ovulate the follicle on its own. My question is, what if I don't ovulate the follicle on my own? Has anyone else had an issue with that?
