Spit up after feeding?

Erica
Hey ladies! So we had my little guy on Similac Advance from about 3wks until now, he's 6wks 3days, I called his pediatricians office yesterday because he was almost always spitting up not just after feedings and when I'd burp him but when I'd change his diaper and lay him down, hold him, or even sometimes when he'd be in his swing. They recommended I switch him to Similac Sensitive which I had a sample of, and he doesn't seem to spit up as much, but just wondering what's normal and what's not? They said if it doesn't get any better to call them back and bring him in.... Any advice is helpful, thanks

If it's not projectile and he's not upset about it and still gaining weight than your good. It actually looks like more than it is. If he's screaming and clearly uncomfortable, losing weight than its an issue and might need medication. I've had kids in all ranges of reflux. One was mild, had Zantac till he was 3 months and then was just a little extra spit uppy. Number 2 had severe reflux. Almost projectile like and was so miserable. He was on Prilosec till he was almost 18 months had alimentium formula and thickened with cereal. Number 3 spits up like yours, when you lay him flat, if you jostle him or just randomly. But it doesn't bother him at all, he's slim since he's breastfed but gaining weight consistently. So you just need to kinda use your mom intuition, if it doesn't seem right, take him in to be seen.

If your baby isn't gaining weight or is crying a lot during or after feedings you should change it. I sit my baby up 30 mins after feedings to keep spit ups from happening and it's helped a lot!
