Every new product that doesn't depend on antiquated technology is blocked by government regulation because politicians are invested in those technologies. For example the US will never get rid of bad technologies like using oil because it makes too much money. Also they tried to block uber because they couldn't tax and keep track of drivers using the old laws. It's irritating. And it doesn't just happen in the transportation market. It happens in virtually all markets.
