Childbirth - meds or no meds?

Question

Was curious to learn everyone's stance on childbirth and whether all natural is best or if you prefer meds (epidurals, etc) and why? Thanks!

I prefer meds In a hospital setting myself, but if someone wants to do it med free, in their home, or birthing center, in a pool, or whatever, more power to them and I hope they have the birth they want.

I personally had my DD med free in the hospital. It was the most amazing experience of my life. However, I did a lot of research, took a birthing class, and discussed it with my doctor and husband thoroughly. I don't think there's a right or wrong in this situation. I think women should educate themselves about their options though and do what feels right to them. Going in blind would've been terrifying for me.

I had both of my babies in hospital. One with epidural second one drug free. Both were induced. If we have more babies I will go drug free again. Yes it's painful but doable. I felt way better with my drug free birth directly after birth and also recovery was way better and way faster. I tore with my first but not my second. I remember more from my second and was able to enjoy my newborn way more right after a med free birth. I think it's up to the mama. Your body your birth your choice. Child birth is an amazing experience however it happens. But for me I choose med free.

I had my baby in a free standing birth center 100% med free. I was in labor for 22 hours and my contractions started at 5 minutes apart, no slow build up. After everything I would do it again. I feel powerful and accomplish because people told me I couldn't do it. And my baby was and still is so wide eyed and alert and breastfed right away. We were able to bond immediately. It was the best.

What's best is whatever a woman wants. Best is having a choice to feel everything & do it medication free & the choice not to do it medication free & feel absolutely nothing. The end.

No way is best, everyone is different and have vastly different childbirth experiences.
Personally, I've delivered 5 natural births, 2 in hospitals and 3 in a birth center.

I'll tell you one thing: transition into delivery is tough for me and I wish there were a medication just for that 10cm point, but alas it is not to be.....so I'll suck it up an scream as I get ready to push out #6 just like all the others. Sigh.

I'm a firm believer that what is "best" is highly dependent on the mama/family in question.  Also, what's "best" is what gets baby here safely. I personally am opting for a med-free birth in a hospital, and am actually pretty excited about it.  It's always been something I'm passionate about, and I've been preparing since we received a positive (lol), and am now almost 33 weeks.  But, to each their own, and like I said...safe mama/baby is what is best and most important in my eyes 😊

No meds personally. There seems to be a domino effect of get the epidural, then you need pitocin, baby gets in distress, then c-section. It happens too often. I'd like to avoid any medication.
