How much should hubby help?

Question

Let's say Mama is on mat leave and Papa works full time.  Bills are split 50/50 so Papa is not the only one footing them.
How much should he be helping out with baby?  Should he help with the night feeds?   If so, which ones?  Should he relieve mama when he gets home from work and settled?  What are your expectations of your man and what does he actually do?

While you are still on mat leave, take the night feedings during the week but he can help on the weekends! That's what my husband and I do. He also helps a ton when he gets home from work after he feeds the animals!

My hubby says, "can I get you anything?"  throughout the day!  He knows I don't always ask for help so he makes sure to ask me.

Its more like 80/20 here now that my husband is back at work, before it was 50/50. I've been a SAHM for 7 years so I don't work out of the house (just have my Etsy shop). My husband works night shift so he helps alot once he's up during the day.

In my house we split shit 50/50. He does all the diapers I do all the feelings since I EBF. "Dad-diaper, mom-milk" that's the saying in my house. We alternate giving baths and who plays with him on tummy time. I don't let my husband slide on anything lol.

I had my son on Saturday. While he's off, he let's me go to bed whenever I'm ready. Anywhere from 6pm to 9pm and let's me sleep until midnight or 1. Then he gets me up, I pump, we go to bed together and I do most of the night stuff. If I need him I'll wake him, but I usually don't. Then he gets up with our 3 year old in the morning. When he goes back to work, it will be all me at night because he wull have to be up at 2:30 to get to work by 3am.

Hubby should help 50%. How that's divided is up to what works in your family. Similar to you, my hubby works, so I wouldn't ask him to get up during the night but he'll take care of things when he's home.

SO works from home. I dont work atm. Baby is 4w. He takes her from 7p to 1a so I can sleep and I take her the rest of the time. Doesn't always work out that way bc LO just wants her mommy. He also cooks and does most if the cleaning too! LO rarely sleeps without being held right now.
