Ramzi Theory Explained
This may or may not be helpful/interesting for you guys, but for those of you who have posted about the 'Ramzi Theory', or who ask about it, I thought I would share some googling I did.
So, first of all, where did the Ramzi theory come from?
It turned up on obgyn.net which is NOT a peer reviewed journal. It has not been replicated by any other researchers. This is important because in the scientific community, study results need to be verified by a lot of other researchers before they are accepted as reliable. I'm not saying this means there is nothing to the Ramzi method, but it's an important part of this. Here is the original publication: http://www.obgyn.net/articles/relationship-between-placental-location-and-fetal-gender-ramzi’s-method
Second, what does the theory say?
Here is exactly what it says:
"Result Dramatic differences were detected in chorionic villi / placental location according to gender. 97.2% of the male fetuses had a chorionic villi/placenta location on the right side of the uterus whereas, 2.4% had a chorionic villi/placenta location to the left of the uterus. On the other hand 97.5% of female fetuses had a chorionic villi/placenta location to the left of the uterus whereas, 2.7% had their chorionic villi/placenta location to the right side of the uterus."
Long story short. If your placenta or chrionic villi are on one side or the other, that's how you tell if it's more likely to be a girl or a boy. Position of the fetus is NOT what this method is showing. So THIS PICTURE DOES NOT ACCURATELY DESCRIBE HOW TO ASSESS YOUR RAMZI RESULT:
This shows fetal position. Not placenta position. The placenta position is not always on the same side as the fetus.
Finally, in order to try to see what Ramzi Method is looking for, you need to make sure your US tech is using the same imaging technique as the study did.
Here is a caveat from Dr. Ramzi Ismail's own keyboard:
"Ma[n]y of the techs and doctors are not familiar with this method , please ask them to make sure that the tech must do true transverse section of the uterus to show the chorionic villi or the early placenta must be true transverse – not sagital, not oblique – and to make sure that if the uterus is retroverted or retroflexed that the tech do the true transverse accordingly, and let the ladies know that it is not the baby position in the uterus but it is the placenta bulk, and that the placenta bulk either to right or left. I know that the sex chromosomes are in charge but there is a great deal that the sex chromosome do change and switch depending on the placenta position in the uterus, and this research is too long to explain and it is still controversial. Many pictures sent 90% WERE NOT TRUE TRANSVERSE [ultrasounds]"
This came from a response he wrote to a woman who was examining his theory. It's pretty enlightening, you can read that here:

All told, I hope this is helpful for you guys, if you have the interest.
