sound like twins?

I'm 17 weeks and at my regular appt the midwife said I measured big and then we heard kind of an echo while listening for the heartbeat (like maybe there was a second heartbeat just off sync with the first) only way to confirm is an ultrasound and she said there are other reasons to measure big so it's just wait for u/s now.

Did this happen to anyone else? I'm going crazy waiting for the u/s appt...

(Note- I know only the u/s will tell me for sure, just looking for similar stories or input from twin mommas...)

At 14 weeks I was measuring 5 weeks ahead of dates. I had a baby the previous year that was 9 1/2 lbs and it was my fourth pregnancy so she felt it was mostly just my uterus stretching out early. She ordered a u/s just to rule out twins as a possibility. She didn't look for a second heartbeat at all. Sure enough I had a scan two days later and there were two! No previous scans in pregnancy because with healthy moms they only do anatomy scans.

My twins have completely separate heartbeats on two different sides of my belly. Maybe if it is twins they are identical... Mine are fraternal and their heartbeats can always be found separately. Good luck!!

Have you not had an ultrasound until now? My doctor can only ever pick up one of my Twin's heartbeats with the doppler. The other one is placed as such that we can never get it and always do an ultrasound. The echo sound could be your placenta or your own heartbeat.
