Dance or Gymnastics Classes?

Question

Anyone have their 3 or 4 year old in dance or gymnastics classes? Please share your stories!! I am leaning towards putting mine in classes to socialize her more with kids her age so she will be ready for pre-k in fall 2016.

I started gymnastics when i was 3 and i'm still in it at level 9 competitive:) I live it a lot it gives me a sense of purpose it sound weird but u live it when people say "how can you do that" I was but in to dance acro at 7 and stopped at 15 i liked it it was like a kid if gymnastics and dance. I'm definitely a Gym girl lol

While it's great you want your child to be active, consider this- too much physical activity can stunt their growth, especially if you start training for competitions(I'm talking more gymnastics than dancing obvs). 
My cousin did gymnastics and competed in Europe, however up until she stopped doing it at 16, her body looked like a child's and now she can't get her period without taking medication.
I know you want what's best for your child, and doing sports is great and II should encourage it, but try not to push them too much, and please consider the outcome! Try mixing sports with music and arts, so that they become well-rounded :)
I know gymnastics is very hard and it's a great sport, and I totally support those that do it, however you should know what you're getting your child into, so that there's no regrets from either of you :) Good luck!
