Hair Health

So I got my hair done yesterday- black with a pretty silver -and to go from my real to this color, I had to get my hair stripped. I know stripping your hair does major damage, but I've never had a problem, especially not with the lowest "power" bleach. But after my hairdresser applied the grey, I noticed the ends were really stringy and dry looking, and my hair was slimy... Needless to say half of my short hair is totally fried, and I'm worried that this might permenatly damage my hair... Any advice?
