Safe to fly at 12weeks?

Question

Anyone flew during their first trimester? Is it safe? This is my first pregnancy and i am worried and just want to play safe.
This trip is booked way before i know i'm pregnant. I will be 12weeks when i fly. Flight would be about 4 hours.

It typically is, but if you're that worried, call you doctor and ask what precautions you should take, such as whether to avoid full body scanners at security, or making sure to get up and move around during the flight.

It's typically after 32/36 weeks that they don't recommend flying.

Yup, I travel a lot for work and flew a few times last month.
I called my doctor and asked, and she said it was fine. She did suggest that I make sure to get up and walk around about once per hour on the flight so blood would not collect in my legs.
Regarding the scanners, it's a personal choice, but I opt out. This means a full body pat down and a LOT more time in security. I usually allow an additional 30 min for this.

There's nothing wrong with flying while pregnant. It's whether or not you want to give birth in another country if you plan to fly that far and if your comfortable being in hospital there for a least 2 weeks after delivery. If your lives are at home then obviously it's less hassle staying home where your chosen doctor and hospital is.

I am a flight attendant and fly every week.  With my first I flew up until 35 weeks.  With this one I plan to fly to 34.  As long as you are hot high risk it should be fine.

I just came back from a weekend trip to NYC and flying was not a problem.  If it's a longer flight just try to walk around some and stay hydrated :)

I traveled from Charleston SC to San Francisco and back during the holidays and it was just fine. Just make sure you have lots of water some ginger ale and food.

I'm a flight at attendant and I fly every week. See if you can get an aisle seat and be sure to drink a lot of water (no soda--you will bloat so much more). Fly safe! ✈️
