When did you stop bc?

My husband and I want to become ttc later on this year, and I've been on bc for close to 3 years. I've heard all these horror stories about how it messed girls up. (And I plan to ask my doctor as well) but I wanted to know when others stopped bc, and if they had any effects from it after stopping, or if it took longer to conceive because of being on it for a significant amount of time. Just want to hear real stories before statistics from a doctor. Thanks!

I stopped using the nuvaring and on the next cycle I got pregnant. I was on birth control for 8 years.

I stopped the pill and a month later I was pregnant. I was on the pill for two years. It's just all about timing.

My doctor said that i can stop whenever i am ready to get pregnant because that shouldnt affect it :) but i guess it depends on how long you were on bc and what kind you used. I was on bc for over 3 years, stopped in september, got pregnant in november, unfortunately miscarriage in December.....i dunno if bc had anything to do with that. I think it was more of a stress.... but had a lucky accident and am currently pregnant again :)

Update: I just got off the phone with my doctor and she said to stop by about 3 months before I want to conceive so that it has time to get out of my system. So if we wanted to try and conceive in the summer, stop by bc in March. She also said if we get pregnant during that 3 month period, not to worry.

My friend had been on the pill for probably about 5-8 years and she got pregnant the first month she came off it.
Apparently you're most fertile the first month or two after coming off the pill as your cycle hasn't regulated and you could ovulate any time.
Dr's also sometimes recommend going on the pill for a bit if you're struggling to conceive as coming off it makes you quite fertile. Just try not to worry.
I came off my pill a month before she did and have just been monitoring my cycle and avoiding for the moment, like you were planning to conceive later this year.

I was on the pill for 10 years. The first month off I did have a lot of wacky symptoms as my body adjusted, but then month 2 I got pregnant!

I stopped a few months before ttc. My first cycle off bc was a little weird, but I had normal cycles after that. I went off in April and we found out we were pregnant at the end of July. We are due April of this year! :)

Birth control messed me up. I didn't start TTC right away after stoping it, but it did take me about 3-6 months to get it out of my system and get back on a normal period cycle. We just used condoms for about 2 years after stopping BC and had absolutely no issues or pregnancy scares while using them. However, we put them on the minute we started getting going (he never went in without a wrap haha). If you're concerned how birth control will affect your TTC (because it affects everyone differently and there is no way to know how it will affect you personally) I say go ahead and stop it, and use another form of contraceptive that doesn't involve artificial hormones. (Ex. Condoms, spermacidal foam, etc)

I stopped mine last month, not because I wanted to conceive but it was giving me stomach problems and some other issues. I didn't notice a huge difference after stopping, other than a more painful period and some acne.

I have been on the pill for a long time, I can't even tell you. This is my first month off ttc #1. AF is expected tomorrow but my pre period symptoms are different than when I was on the pill so as far as getting a bfp I don't know what to really look for. I hope she doesn't show up tomorrow!!
