Is the disorder "PTSD" for life?

I've had it since I was 14. I'm 22 now and it still affects me.

I've had it and recovered. Many people see a good prognosis with therapy. Some use medication. I'm many cases, it is not lifelong.

Technically, PTSD is a longterm if not life long illness. However, with proper treatments, medications, and therapies people can learn to overcome it. It is rare that someone is "cured", but could happen. So neither yes or no, but somewhere imbetween.

I was diagnosed with PTSD at the age of 13. When I was younger it was worse, but as time goes on I can manage it.

I think it really depends on the individual, but in most cases I believe you can expect to see lingering effects of the disorder throughout the persons life. I know people who have recovered from quite a lot of issues that the disorder has caused them, but still must remain on medication to keep them at bay. Which I don't personally consider a full recovery. My husband is one of them.
