So, 2 months After I gave birth to my daughter I decided to get the iud without hormones since it reduces milk supply if you get it with hormones. Told the dr which one I wanted and went on with the process. A month later went to get checked up to see if it got position correctly and apparently my body was trying to get rid of it (trying to give birth to it!!) when dr saw the strings of iud he asked me if I got the one with hormones or the one without hormones, I told him the one without the hormones and said I got the one WITH hormones and proceeded taking it out. He looked concerned and apologized about the miscommunication and used the sonogram to insert a new one WITHOUT hormones (he double checked). The process of putting it in and taking it out and putting another back in is painful. I just hope my periods get back to normal from now on. Had my "first" period after birth for 3 weeks strait then had 2weeks clear then period for 3 weeks again then one week off the one whole month of period 3 weeks off and just started my period again yesterday! I know dr said my period was going to be irregular and heavy but didn't know i was going to have month long periods! Next time I give birth I'm not getting another iud. Very bad experience with it
