C section?

Is having a c section an option? Or is it only in case of emergencies?

Depends on your doctor.  I have heard of some that will let you choose.  I would not recommend it if it's not medically necessary!  It's major surgery with all the same risks and potential complications as any other surgery!  😬

Its supposed to be for emergencies only. But some have requested it. I sure wouldn't want that scar, I have enough of them 😂😂 plus, you would need someone there to help bathe the baby, put him to sleep, do household chores, etc. Because your supposed to rest afterwards. So if your husband works, that'll be complicated because you'll be in pain afterwards and need help with the baby. You also aren't the first to hold the baby afterwards due to the surgery. I'll stick to my vaginal deliveries!! Lol

I don't know why anyone would want to use it as an option if they didn't have to? It's a major surgery. Your body is designed to give birth naturally. The c-section rate in our country is out of control. It's disgusting. Many doctors make them seem necessary bc #1.. They get paid 3 times the amount of money to perform a c-section vs natural birth a D #2.. It's more convenient..  They can schedule it and be in and out vs being on call and waiting until your body is ready. Never go for a c-section unless there is no other option.

I hear tons of women opt out for c-sections nowadays and I don't understand it myself. I'm on my 4th c-section with this pregnancy and the first was due to necessity of babies position and then after that I just had to continue cause doctors wouldn't let me get a v-back and hospital didn't allow. Having c-sections usually determines whether the rest of your babies will be delivered that way. Not all hospitals allow natural birth after c-sections. It is rare nowadays. C-sections also limit the amount of kids doctors suggest you have due to constant reopening of the scar. Yes we've come a long way and c-sections aren't as complicated as they once were. As long as you have a good surgeon you should be fine but birth, vaginal or c-section can come with unexpected complications. But vaginal is the natural method and should always be preferred. I'd say keep an open mind when going into labor. Number one goal, healthy mom and baby. Number 2 vaginal birth. Number 3, refer back to number 2... Do what u have to do if complications arise.

If you have a genuine reason you can have an elective c-section. I had twins in Aug last year. Generally with twins they like to deliver via c-section due to high risks. I was insistant all along I wanted to do it naturally and they agreed. In the end that option was taken away from me as the babies had stopped growing and I had to deliver early!! C-section was the worst experience of my life. The after pain is horrific,worse than any natural labour I have had (3 previous children naturally) 
My advise is, if you have no medical reason that stops you I would do it naturally!! The pain is only there for the time you are in labour. The recovery is quicker and you can enjoy your new baby. C-section pain lasts weeks, if not months. And you are really restricted in what you can do, unless you want to cause yourself injury xx

It's not meant to be elective. It's major abdominal surgery with a long recovery. I would have much preferred vaginal over c-section but made little progress with pushing.

I had 2. I loved them. Some people can recover just fine. (Me). I had them because I was 42 weeks with both babe's and no signs of dilation. 
I was at home alone with both and was fine. Just keep a home base on a main level of your house because stairs can be painful. Scars aren't a big deal either. It's a tiny one that runs along your bikini line.
So while it's a fast surgery with a fast recovery, ultimately it's not the most natural of ways to get a baby out, and if you can avoid it great, but it's not always the nightmare you hear about :)

I did not want a c section but there was no other option for me. The surgery was not horrible, the pain ehh ...tolerable and the physical scar is not that bad, but the scar on my mentality was the worst. I was determined on having my baby naturally, but had to be induced due to low fluid. I labored for 4 days and never fully dialated, they broke my water by day 3 so after 24 hours they told me that I would have to get a c section. I was devastated the birth did not go the way I had planned but such is life. I'm thankful my daughter and I made it out alive and that's all that really mattered.
