No, I wasn't ashamed. I just told him the truth about my disorder. He took it really well and even wanted to learn more about it to help me with episodes and what not. If your spouse loves you they can look past your disorder and see you for who you really are. 😊

You should tell him, i have GAD & i was ashamed to tell him at first but I opened up to him for the same reason that he was my boyfriend & he tried to understand me.

I told my boyfriend I was cutting the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. If he didn't want to deal with it, he didn't have to. His response was "I can't see why you'd want to hurt something so pretty." And he has stuck with me through many different medications not working, my panic attacks, any time I went into psychosis he would come over (even if it was 3AM and he had to sneak out and walk to my house.) I was hospitalized twice during our relationship, both for 5 days at a time. He came to visit me whenever visitations were (he'd come with my mom.) we've been together for almost 3 years now. He has helped me so much. I hurt myself for the last time on April 25th, 2014. So almost a year ago 🎉 I never thought I'd see the day. He is definitely my soul mate, I love him to bits.. And even if our relationship doesn't work out for some reason, I'll still love him as a friend and I'll never be able to repay him for what he has done for me. I am not bipolar disorder, and I am not Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I am Micaela. I just have those disorders. And they can be devastating if you let them be.
Your SO will not judge you for having issues if they really care for you. You deserve someone who will help you be happier. (Just be willing to help yourself, too.) 💖
