JJ Cole Bundle Me Car seat cover?

I recieved one of these as a gift from my baby shower. It's pink, looks comfy  and I assumed it was great for baby since she's being born late January. However after reading the reviews and hearing from some moms about car seat safety, I hear this product is NOT recommended and is an aftermarket product which isn't good for baby's  safety in the car seat .. So obviously after hearing this I won't be using it. My question is WHAT can I do with it now? Idk where the person got it from, no gift receipt... Can I take it to a store for store credit or what? No idea
