When to start baby sign?

Hello! I have 4 years of ASL background in college and now that I have a baby I'm wondering if anyone can reccomend the best time to start teaching my newborn sign and when (from experience) they start responding or actually learning...

I've signed with my own kids and several I nannied for. My advise is to start ASAP. Always say the word while you sign it. I currently sign "milk" and say Milkies to my LO before she nurses. She is 11 weeks and has understood me for quite a while.  And it won't be long before she herself is signing. Start with things that motivate them "milk" and "more" are great word s to start with.

I started right away with my son who is now 12. We were communictIng by 6 months. Started right away with my baby daughter who is now 19 weeks. She seems to respond when I sign to her

At my moms group today the presenter was a baby sign teacher. She suggested anytime after 6 months

It looks like 6 months is when you get the most response but I really want experience based answers, not just textbook. Anyone use ASL to communicate with their LO's? I nannied for twins who signed they were 1 year and a half. It was amazingly helpful
