Is it wrong to try for a baby at 17?

I say yes, only because you have SOOOO much to look forward to. Not that kids aren't a blessing, but you have your whole life. Go to college, make something of yourself. It's better than struggling with jobs that aren't as fulfilling as a career you went after and truly wanted. Plus financially it'll be easier.
I don't judge mom's who get pregnant young. I was 20 when I got pregnant. I wish I had more of a stable life for my children by having a career. Each to their own though. You won't get any judgement from me. Just make sure you know the FULL responsibility of having and caring for a child.

If you're mature enough, financially stable, have your own place and basically ARE an adult (with all the fun adult responsibilities and the maturity to match) then go for it. 16 is the legal age of consent here in Michigan, so in states like mine, you wouldn't have any legal repricussions to worry about.

I realize that there are many people who try for kids that don't have the maturity, finances or home - but to me, even if you're 30, you shouldn't try for a kid unless you have your life together.

So if being a mother is all you've ever wanted to be and it's what you're passionate about (because having a kid and being a mother WILL be your new life), and you're ready, then go for it.

It's your decision but make sure your doing it for the right reasons. My husband and I had our first when we were in our early 20s and have waited 6 years to TTC because we weren't financially stable enough to have another child. Make sure you understand the responsibilities of providing for a child not only finanicially but emotionally and mature enough to handle it. You also need to take into consideration that you still have a lot of life to live and may miss out on what your late teens and early early 20s have to offer and you don't want to look back 10 years from now wishing you had waited. If you want to try for a baby.. do it!! Most teenage girls are actually better mom's than women in their 20s. If it's really what you want then go for it. I'm 18 and ttc ^_^

To me if you have a place to live and a good job with insurance which not many people have then it's good to try for a child. But at 17 it's highly unlikely to have that but if you do great job. But I would wait if you don't have a job with insurance before you start trying. That's just me. Cause believe me it's better to have a child with insurance

Some cultures it's the norm. But in America if you're in high school, live with family, and have a low paying job, it would be hard for anyone to say you're ready and responsible enough to be a parent.

I said yes but I do believe there are situations where it's okay. They are just rare in my opinion.

Having a child while you are a minor has way more legal complications than if you wait.
