Did you have Fentanyl or any pain meds to help contractions?

I plan on having something prior to my epidural if I'm able. Wondering what you had and if it helped with the pain?

In Connecticut they give you Staydol, which is a medicine that is said to ease the pain. They just put it into your little IV tube. I was induced and hooked up to Pitocin, and the Staydol made me feel drunk and careless for a few hours. It doesn't actually help the pain though. I don't recommend it unless you want to have some entertainment during labor lol.

With my first they gave me Staydol & it made me feel drunk & out of it between the contractions & made the pain a 100 times worse, I literally felt like I was gonna crawl out of my skin I was in so much pain. Thank god for epidurals, once I got my epidural it was smooth sailing & I was able to enjoy the rest of my labor & delivery. With this pregnancy I'm skipping the pain meds & going straight for the epidural!

I didn't have any pain medication for labor, but they did give me stadol after I gave birth because I had an internal tear and had to have a minor surgery right in my delivery room. I lost a lot of blood and was kind of panicking  (plus it hurt because I had no pain meds!), so they gave me the stadol. It made me super tired and I was out of it for a few hours after that.

I got to the hospital and the contractions were pretty intense. They didn't wait too long before I got the epidural. I didn't take any other pain meds prior.

I was given morphing through my IV but that relieved the pain for maybe 30 minutes. I ended up getting my epidural at a 5-6cm

Ugh, fentanyl was AWFUL. Made me feel SO drugged. I guess it helped me relax for a second, but I hated the feeling. It was NOT worth it. I caved and got the epidural and it was AMAZING. I wanted an unmedicated birth, but seriously, epidurals are epic. I have zero regrets!

I got morphine that literally didn't do anything to me. Then I got fentanyl that made me feel super drunk for 10 minutes which let me relax enough that my water broke. Then it wore off. Once I got the epidural I dilated super fast because it let me relax!

I did but it really only helped with the following contraction and took a tiny bit of the edge off and then it wore off.
