Disguising not drinking?

We bought tickets to watch one of our favorite musicians tonight. It's a sit down thing at a winery. I think you get 2 free glasses of wine with each ticket. My husband doesn't drink wine but one of my friends and I usually have a glass together when we get together. She as well as lots of other friends will be there tonight. Not sure how to avoid the suspicion when I'm not drinking. We had a miscarriage last fall that they know about so I'm afraid the cat will be out of the bag tonight when everyone sees I don't have a glass of wine at the show or with dinner.  Because the miscarriage people know we've been TTC- started trying in May 2014. We are only 4 weeks 5 days now so still very early.

I used to work at a restaurant a few years back and what I saw happen a few times is when the mom and dad to be first arrived  (sometimes called early) and just informed the bar they are pregnant and haven't share with fam yet so no matter what was ordered for the mom to be instead the bartender would send a cranberry and seltzer for example.... try calling first or have hubby go to the bar and ask that your "wine" be (apple or grape juice) instead when ordered.

I'm on my third pregnancy and I am only 7 weeks.  I just order a glass of wine or beer and sip on it (I did it with my first two and they are fine). you can even say after a few sips that it's just not agreeing with you and maybe you're coming down with something.

If they know you are TTC AND they ask, say it may help to cut out alcohol, caffeine and sugar so you're trying it out. They may not ask.

Tell them you're on an antibiotic that the doctor forbade you to drink with.

With wine at the in-laws, I fake sipped, poured some out in the bathroom, and "accidentally" spilled half of it outside. They had no idea.

At a sit down place though that might be tougher. You don't typically take your glass to the bathroom.

At restaurants, DH and I order a glass and share...but DH drinks usually and we share meals/drinks often.

At a retirement party I walked around with ginger ale in a bar glass and everyone just assumed it was a boozy drink.

If those aren't options, I plan to just order a g&t and ask the bar privately to hold the g.

I have a kids party this weekend but I figure no one will second guess me drinking a soda mid-day at a 1 yo's party.

I would swap it for some dark juice maybe grape? Let the server know in private your expecting maybe go to the restroom and pull them aside explain your thoughts to them and I bet they can help you out :) good luck I know what you mean with his my husbands family came to visit us when we found out we were expecting last pregnancy and I wasn't ready to tell anyone when we sat down to eat dinner at a restaurant together and everyone started ordering drinks then it was my turn and I asked for water with lemon they all looked at me and shouted your pregnant aren't you lol

You could say you have a headache or feel dehydrated--I think as long as you don't make a big deal over it no one will think it strange.

Last night we were out with some friends we aren't telling and they wanted to buy me a glass of wine as a congrats for a new job. I just sipped on it a little and then said I had a long drive home and gave the rest to my husband.
