I seen that someone I know lied on their Job application about having a high school diploma. Can they get into trouble?

Depends on the job. Some make you sign something saying you completed everything truthfully to the best of your knowledge. Technically, they can take you to court for that, but it's very likely that you'll just be fired.

People lie on job applications and resumes all the time! This seems like a minor issue - does the job really require a diploma? It is dishonest but maybe they just need a job

Employer can fire you over it but you can't be arrested over it.

my friend wanted a job where I worked at a major call center and didn't have a diploma from highs hook or a ged and I asked the hiring area if she needed a ged and they said "technically yes but we're not going to check so tell her to put it down she has one anyways" I was like really? And I definitely remember signing something saying everything was true.. but I bet they won't check I've had tons of jobs and nobody has ever been like SHOW ME PROOF lol I feel like it could be illega but not something a company would pursue:

Sounds like fraud and depends what the falsification is for. I mean if it was a certificate to say you were conpetant to do a safety critical task then that is likely illegal if its just of office based work which has no legal financial or safety implications then maybe not. Although the employer is partly responsible for not double checking.

Either way its voided the contract so if they know they can do what they like with the job. Maybe even keep them on for years and when they need to get rid of them just terminate contract based on that and it would also affect things like pensions etc

a lot of people lie about things like organizational skills or knowing how to use excel...but lying about a high school diploma is pretty big. I don't think it's illegal per say but I'm sure they would get in trouble with their employer and probably fired.

U WOULD GET FIRED IF THEY FOUND OUT YOUR LYING BUT NOW ITS ALMOST VERY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND OUT.....GETTING IN TROUBLE HECC NO JUST LOOSING YOUR JOB OR NO GETTING A JOB....
