TTC after ectopic but too soon?

CD • Ella born 12-27-16 🌈
I had emergency surgery due to a ruptured tube and internal bleeding on Christmas Day. My tube was completely removed. My doctor said to wait to try again until after one regular period. I bled about a week immediately after surgery but nothing since. My husband and I did the deed last night. I took an ovulation test for the hell of it and it's super positive. Now I'm scared we could have potentially conceived. I'm happy but worried because we weren't trying and the doctor recommended against it. Any one have thoughts at all?

I suffered an ectopic pregnancy in 2014 and lost my right fallopian tube, this is our second month TTC... I wanted to give my body time to heal and give myself time to mourn the loss of my baby 😔 everyone is different you just have to find out when the time is right for you... I would follow the doctors advice and wait one full regular cycle before TTC again ☺️

Good luck to you! We should have waited too but I guess it's done now! I definitely want to try again right away. I just feel like my chances are shot now 😔

It's best not to worry about something that has now happened. It is strange that you hadn't had a proper period yet though as I had mine about six weeks after my ectopic and I had my left tube removed. If you have still not had a period after another month and you are not pregnant it may be best for you to see a doctor and make sure everything is ok.

My period took a long time too, and I was super regular before the ectopic. Our doctor told us not to have sex for two weeks, and that we could try again after a month. Despite the ovulation test, I would hazard to guess that you are unlikely to be fertile until after your first real period. This is what our doctor told us, and it took my body a long time to readjust and menstruate again.
