Pushing during labor?

Every person is different, but like a comment below you push during every contraction (once your fully dialated). But trust me, you want to push! You won't really want to be taking breaks because at that point you just want the baby out, haha. But trust your doctors. They won't/shouldn't let anything happen that will harm you or the baby. They are there to guide you and will intervene if necessary.

I only pushed when I had a contraction, so there were breaks. I dilated to 10 but didn't immediately have the urge to push, so I just waited until I did and the nurses and doctor just hung out. It took me 30 minutes to push my daughter out, but it was only a few contractions.

I pushed for about 90 mins.  I got breaks and they had oxygen for me as needed to keep up my strength...i have exercise induced asthma that may have affected my pushing.  Also with the epidural it was hard at first to target the right muscles. The time flew by and my lil guy was here before I knew it.  Believe it or not this is the easiest part of the whole labor experience.  There's a lifetime reward at the end remember that..it will keep you focused. :)

It took me forever to dilate. I was in labor for 30 hours. I dilated 1/2 cm in 8 hours, so that part sucked. But I only pushed 10 times and my baby came out. You push when you get a contraction, so you get tiny breaks to breath.

Every labor is different. With my first, I was in labor for 22 hours and pushed for 3.5 hours. My second, start to finish, labor was 5 hours and pushed a total of 15 minutes before she was born. Trust your body. Good luck!

I dilated quickly and my labor was only 13 hours long. (Was induced) and pushed for about an hour-hour & half. The reason being is he was still above my pelvic bone and it can take a lot of pushing to get the baby past it. Some women it's not so hard but others it can take a while to push the baby past it. Typically if that's the case the nurse will have you do "sets" of pushing during each contraction. I did 3 sets of 10 which means I pushed for 10 seconds 3 times as hard as I could during my contractions. You can take a break if needed I'm sure. It's really not bad!

I was induced and it only took 6 hours  for me to be ready to push. 3 pushes and she was out.
My sister just had a baby boy. Induced and 4 days later she finally got to 10 cm. she pushed for a little over three hours. They told her she had one last push and that if he wasn't out, they were going in for c-section. He came out on that push!

Every baby and labor is different but you will have nurses and doctors there to help every bit and know what's best.
