Human pacifier?

Question

Is anyone else finding their newborn using their breasts as pacifiers? My boy is 2 wks (3 on Wednesday) and won't take a regular pacifier. And in the past few days he won't calm or sleep unless he has my boob in his mouth for purely pacifier purposes. I sit there for up to 40 min and he's not drinking of swallowing - just suckling.

Anyone else going thru this? Does it last? I'm having trouble coping with it.

My LO did that a lot between weeks 1-2 1/2. Sometimes feeding and using me as a pacifier for hrs straight. Now he's a month and will still do it if he needs comfort. He's not a fan of a regular pacifier. I'd say hang in there it does get better.

Have you tried different pacifiers? I thought my son didn't like pacifiers and then we tried a MAM and that's all he will use.

My daughter loves to use me as a pacifier! She will take the soothie pacifiers though, thankfully.. When she is very upset for whatever reason my boob seems to me the one thing that can calm her in a second.. Works for my husband as well! Lol sorry had to throw that in...

Mine does too! My DS will be 3 weeks tomorrow and we're waiting to introduce pacifiers until 6 weeks because that's what our lactation consultant recommends to avoid nipple confusion and keep up mom milk supply. Some nights he's on the breast for 3-4 hours, just sitting there with my nipple in his mouth, when I try to remove it, he screams. It's hard...
