Friable cervix - explanation for my bleeding/spotting

I'm almost 10 weeks, and I have been bleeding and spotting throughout my pregnancy so far. Spotting only when I wipe, with about 10 episodes of bright red spotting so far. Because of the frequency of bleeding and spotting, I've already gotten 4 ultrasounds. My OB finally diagnosed me with a friable cervix this morning when she performed a pap on me today. At least now I have an explanation that isn't "threatened miscarriage"!
