Peyton came at 2:51 am after 12 hours of natural labor. Her heart rate kept dropping with contractions so my midwife had to call in a doctor and team to do a vacuum. In an instant my quiet calm birth went from just my husband, mother, midwife, and nurse, to 10 people, including a resident who ended up doing the delivery under the doctors instruction. When she came out they said her cord was thin which was probably the reason for her heart rate. Because of that I wasn't able to do immediate skin to skin or delayed cord clamping. I also lost a lot of blood and ended up with a second degree tear, which I received 8 stitches for. My midwife stayed the whole time and took back over our care once I was stitched up. Although things didn't go to plan I was still able to go natural and my baby is healthy and perfect, how can I be upset about that.
