Pumping to induce labor?

I know that nipple stimulation is a way to supposedly induce labor, but can you use your breast pump for this instead of manually stimulating? I suppose if your colostrum begins to come out you could stop (or freeze it!). Has anyone had any experience with either of these for inducing?

My midwife actually suggested this. She said 5 minutes on one side wait 15 minutes and then 5 minutes on the other side.

I've done it. Freeze any colostrum you get. There's no limit to your colostrum and your milk doesn't come in until babys born so go for it! I did it for 15 minutes both at same time. Then stopped for 15 minutes and pumped once more for 15. Didn't work for me but it was early and I haven't tried it again yet.

The key isn't really expressing milk, but instead feeling good enough to release the oxytocin hormone. You can massage your areola, roll your nipples, let your SO play with them etc. you don't have to release any milk. :)

I wouldn't. It's not a guarantee it will send you into labor. The colostrum needs to go straight to the baby. I would personally want baby's first feeding to be from me not a bottle.
