I was scheduled for induction on January 13th at 8am due to low amniotic fluid, irregular heart beat, and decreased fetal movement.

As soon as I was put on the monitor we saw that baby's heart rate was very erratic. It would drop drastically even without the presence of contractions.

Our choices were: use Pitocin to create stronger contractions and if he couldn't handle those then it would be an emergency cesarean... Or just go straight to cesarean and avoid the risk of fetal distress. So instead of induction medications or any such thing we jumped straight to cesarean section.

Luckily as it turned out nothing was wrong with his heart...there was a problem with the umbilical cord. During contractions the umbilical cord was being pinched and cut off his blood flow.

After such a hectic and emotional day we were absolutely pleased to announce that:

At 11:56am on January 13th, 2016 Caden Alvar was born via cesarean delivery. 7lbs 3oz and 19 inches long. Amazingly healthy and happy.
