I hate to be a negative Nancy but there is no correlation of heart rate and gender. The heart rate increases and decreases not only when the baby is active but when the mother is as well, or stressed. After the first trimester the heart rate tends to be lower as well. I wouldn't put too much hope in trying to guess the sex by its heart rate.

My first babies heart rate was 187 at 8-9 weeks then at 14 weeks it went to 140-130 range. It stayed in the 140-130 range depending on if he was moving for the rest of my pregnancy. I though boy when I heard the heartbeat number and he is all boy. I think the heartbeat can tell gender but only in 2nd trimester. My friends boy also started with a fast heartbeat then It slowed down too. It's just a fun to try to figure out. I plan on comparing my ultrasounds to try to figure out that way. My first ultrasound is tommorow!
