I'm not having a baby shower because this is my second. But I think they're wonderful and heir helpful and most importantly it's to celebrate a new life and a new beginning. They may be materialistic and selfish, but to each their own and it allows all us pregos to be a little spoiled and there's nothing wrong with that!

I've never heard someone say a baby shower is selfish or materialistic.  It's so kind and generous for people to share in a mother's excitement and help prepare a family for a new member.

Being bitter about baby shower excitement is like making someone feel bad about celebrating their birthday... So someone threw a party just for them, where they were showered with gifts, and they're not only thankful, but super pumped about all the cool or fun things they got. What's wrong with that?

So far I have seen some special amazing things but I have witnessed a woman who had 12 baby showers....no joke.....for one baby and the baby got stuff up to age 10...

Baby showers are what they are. Just like wedding showers. They're for a purpose. There's nothing materialistic or selfish about them. Now if you're horrible and ungrateful for having one or complain about not getting everything that you have on your registry that's kind of rude, but having multiple showers thrown for you, even if you're on your second or third child, isn't bad!

You want a shower throw one and there are so many variations you can easily put no gifts but most of my friends wanted to get me something for the baby regardless so why not have a small get together to hangout with everyone I love and celebrate this new little baby. Nothing wrong with it at all
