Metformin while pregnant?

I just found out I was pregnant, and haven't been able to meet with my doctor yet to discuss this. I was put on Metformin for PCOS. I am not sure if I will continue through pregnancy, lower my dosage or stop altogether?

DO NOT stop taking metformin as it helps reduce risk of miscarriage.  If you e been on it your doctor will tell you if and when to discontinue.

You will probably be told to continue your dosage until after the first trimester, then stop. But obviously ask your doctor!

If you are on metformin at the time of conception, continuing through your first trimester prevents miscarriage. Make sure you talk to your doctor before stopping.

My doctor is trying to make me stop my Metformin after my first trimester so that I can do a glucose test, even though I'm on metformin for PCOS not for diabetes. I'm terrified to come off of Metformin because of the risk of miscarrying since I couldn't get pregnant naturally without Metformin and Clomid. Has anyone else had experience with their doctor pushing them to get off of it? Based on reading people's comments it's obviously safe to stay on it your entire pregnancy correct?

I also just read up on woman with PCOS can have a hard time breastfeeding due to low milk supply. One of the things that can be done to help is to take metformin. So if you can stay on it I would. I'm over 33 weeks pregnant am going to see if I can get on it soon.

I was on it until 12 weeks.

I've continued it my entire pregnancy and will continue to do so!

My friend was on that for the same reason. She's 14 weeks but she had to stop taking it.
