Is Paraguard worth it?

KT • I fear for the future of humanity
I'm fresh out of grad school, starting an amazing new job, and I really don't want to get pregnant in the next several years (if ever). Hormonal BC and I don't get along, so I figured Paraguard would be perfect. I have tried twice to get it inserted (the second time with medication) and since I've never had a kid my cervix just wouldn't let even the measuring sound in! I have the option to go to a specialist and get a cervical block to get the IUD inserted, but at this point I'm wondering if it's even worth the trouble. My boyfriend and I are content with condoms and tracking my cycle, but I like the idea of using a super reliable method. Thoughts?
