When to drive to hospital?

I'm not anywhere close to delivering but planning ahead.  The hospital we're supposed to deliver at is 45 minutes from our house. At what point do you get your butt in the car and head over?!

They did say if the baby won't wait to get to the nearest hospital which is only 10 minutes from us, but not in our insurance plan.

As soon as you start feeling contractions you could head over closer to the hospital 45 minutes away and just hang around that area until they are close enough together to check into the hospital

I'm lucky my hospital that's covered by my insurance is only 5 blocks away I can walk to the hospital if it really came to it

My doctor told me to head to the hospital if my water breaks or if I'm experiencing contractions I can't talk or walk through that are 5 minutes apart, last for 1 minute and have been constant for an hour. We live about 15 minutes away from the hospital.
